lens-artists-challenge: 311-what’s in a garden

I’ve always enjoyed a walk in a garden, camera on hand. What’s in a garden ? a state of mind? I have noticed when I visit a garden I tend to focus on details instead of the whole view of the garden.

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul. ~Luther Burbank

Now, the photos can speak for themselves – no words needed.

And in my garden I find this to be true: A good garden may have some weeds. ~Thomas Fuller

Thank you, Ann-Christine, for hosting this challenge have a look at her wonderful site and join us. Remember to link back to her original post and to tag Lens-Artists so we can find you.

Last week Patti left us cross-eyed in a fantastic challenge of Zigzags. I loved how many ways we could look at this theme.

Next week is Sofia’s to host so I invite you to drop by her blog on Saturday 17th August and see what she is up to. Until then, keep on smiling.

  1. The Secret Garden is one of my favourite children’s books and no matter how old I get, I never cease to find the magic in Gardens, partly because of that book.

Such a lovely series of flowers in this post. I think no one, no matter what age loves a garden. It can be big or small, private or public, but having access to a beautiful garden is a sign that we will survive and thrive and no matter how despondent one might feel, a walk in a garden uplifts and replenishes our soul.

    Thanks for sharing, Ritva. 🙂

  2. There is so much peace to be found in gardens. My granddaughter (8) is currently obsessed with the Secret Garden.

  3. Great set of flowers to start with, Ritva, and great examples of gardens around the world. Lovely post

  4. We both chose Butchart! I also love the rose garden in Stanley Park. It’s one of my favorites. So many gardens, so little time! Such is life. Have a great week.

  5. You’ve taken many walks and came away with a wonderful gallery for this challenge, Ritva! I agree with Leanne, that tree is my favorite.

  6. The Burbank quote and The Secret Garden says it best – and your photos are the perfect company. Gorgeous post helping us keep the summer memories alive as we are approaching autumn and winter. Thank you for a treat of treats! Your close-ups are mezmerising and the Butchart gardens was a place to love for me as well.
