Veikka was a lovely and loved cat, a cherished cat whose striking white fur glistened in the sunlight, making her the center of attention wherever she went; you could not miss her, as she was the size of a small dog. Her gentle purring provided a soothing soundtrack to quiet evenings, and her warm presence filled the hearts of her human companions with an unexplainable happiness. Veikka passed away years ago, but the photos pop up so often when I search my archives; her memory lives on through photographs; she was an inspiring model for me.

That’s a lovely portrait of your beloved cat. She’s clearly firmly part of your memory-box.
That he is. ❤
How very lovely all those photographic memories must be.
Thanks Sue, yes they are ❤
oh she was absolutely gorgeous, and what a lovely photograph of her
I have just adopted my 11th and 12th cats – still too skittish though to get any photos
you have quite a lot of cats!!
oh sorry I’ve confused everyone. I meant they are the 11th and 12th over the past 50 years of being under cat control!
I figured that out😀 but taking resque cats is admirable
awww thanks – they are still very skittish as their first 9 weeks were pretty traumatic but hopefully over the coming weeks I can provide some calm and security
How lovely that is a great thing to do.
Rescue cats are a kind of their own, but SO filled with love when they feel safe!
so true 🙂
Beautiful photo! Gorgeous cat. Cats truly are one of a kind. We have a rescue cat we got in the begin of 2020, her and my daughter became best friends and perfect timing with what would happen a couple months later. Being a rescue she is still very skiddish, this summer we brought a kitten home, hopeful it would bring some life to our rescue girl. This morning as I was downstairs, we have to approach her slow, so she doesn’t run. Our kitten came in as I was petting our older cat, I then said to her, is this your kitten, are you happy we got you a kitten… well didn’t she start purring SO happily! Just made my heart feel even more aligned, we did the right thing getting her a kitten! Thank you for sharing your story, and reading mine 😉
I can relate, Veikka had a sister, called Sisko ( means sister and veikka is another way to say brother in Finnish) unfortunately Sisko got run over b a car. We got Tinka to be his companion and he took to her and they were best cat friend until we had to put him to sleep as he had cancer,
A beautiful portrait Ritva 😀
Thanks Brian
They leave their footprints on our heart. I miss every one of ours that is no longer with us.
That is true.
