Random Encounters: Street Photography Reflections

We were cautioned about the significant issue of homelessness during our visit to San Francisco several years ago; I’m uncertain about the current situation, but I doubt it has improved significantly. Still, I hope it has. It was quite disheartening to see as we drove through the city; these random shots reflect that experience. RDP Friday: Random

A random shot taken from the car of a person carrying a large mattress walks past an Italian restaurant on a San Francisco city street.

  1. Great capture of real life, Ritva, and sometimes it’s not so pleasant. I have a lot of pictures of the homeless, and I think they tell a story that needs to be addressed.

  2. Sadly, all our big cities here have homeless populations. But I’ve never seen anyone here with a mattress. Simply a bagful of their wordly possessions, which probably includes a blanket or quilt.

  3. Unfortunately the unhoused issue in the US has only gotten worse, especially on the West Coast where the weather tends to be milder. Dramatic photos, however.
