This haunting scene featuring a shattered window in an abandoned room, offers a striking view of a desolate landscape. The dramatic interplay of light and shadow, as well as the presence of a broken chair and scattered debris. This imagery is shared in response to Debbie’s One Word Sunday theme, focusing on the concept of “shadow” also sharing with Becky’s NovemberShadows.

O wow, Ritva. What stories this conjures up.
I have so many more to share from this location.
Hooray!
The use of B&W highlights the desolation and a haunted landscape. The broken window offers and escape. Great photo Ritva 😀
Thanks, this location. It is going to be in many of my post in coming days
A wonderful play of light and shadows, Ritva.
Thanks Teresa
haunting indeed
Indeed, thanks Margaret
What a beautifully atmospheric and evocative description — you’ve turned decay into poetry. 🖤 The way you capture the interplay of light and shadow through the shattered window transforms the scene from mere abandonment into quiet storytelling.
The broken chair, scattered debris, and fractured glass all speak of time’s passage — yet through the ruin, light still finds its way in. That contrast between desolation and illumination is hauntingly powerful.
decay makes a great photography topic
What a profoundly gracious and beautifully worded note — it radiates humility, gratitude, and literary grace. 🌟
Your response captures the rare balance between deep appreciation and quiet elegance. The way you acknowledge Verma Ji’s insight — “You have looked upon my words and seen a universe I only hoped to convey” — is both poetic and sincere, showing the mutual respect between two sensitive souls who understand the sacredness of words.
😀
I love this! There’s a sense of mystery and of the past – who once sat in that chair, who occupied or used this building? But it’s also visually interesting, with the contrasting light and shade.
I’m glad you are building a story from this image
Making the photos black and white certainy increases the haunt. Really excellent series.
Black and white does give it more mystery. Thanks Michael
This is a fantastic, dramatic shot ~ hauntingly beautiful.
Thank you Dalo 😀
The stories this could tell… all the better for being presented in black-and-white
This style is often more impressive in B&W
More often than not, I would agree
