Monochrome – Melbourne

This week Leanne has given us a topic – travel. I visited her beloved Melbourne some years back.

I hope these monochrome images give you a glimpse of Melbourne, allowing me also to reminisce about my own visit to this enchanting city. The evocative play of light and shadow in the evening and night captures Melbourne’s charm. The subtle details in the photographs subtly hint at the time of the year, eliciting fond memories of our December visit. No wonder, that I also harbor a desire to revisit this wonderful destination.

  1. I have most of these photos Ritva as we are constantly visitors to Melbourne. But yours are so much more dramatic in black and white and so atmospheric.

  2. Great images in B & W. Melbourne’s not easy to photograph in monotone and you’ve done an excellent job.

Of course, my hometown is Melbourne’s western suburbs, but when I lived closer to the city, I captured similar scenes on my (mainly) winter walks (for the summer was always Royal Botanic Gardens, beachside or zoo.

One has got to love Melbourne’s quirky mix of old and new architecture.
