On the Roof in Monochrome

I’m feeling really drained and lacking initiative at the moment. I want to do things, but I can’t seem to get anything done really well. Like these photos, they are not really inspired; I didn’t take the time to edit them as well as I could have, which is frustrating because I know I have the potential to create something beautiful. So I haven’t posted anything in the last few days, despite the urge to share my work and connect with others. It’s as if there’s a wall of apathy keeping me from expressing myself, and I’m sure you know the feeling. Is this spring fatigue? With the change of season, there’s typically a sense of renewal and energy in the air, but instead, I’m left feeling stagnant and lost in a mix of lethargy and longing for motivation. The ideas swirl in my mind, yet they struggle to find their way into action.

But I am trying – so here are four images, which I find to be a great topic, and still this is what I was able to come up with. Brian, here are my photos for Monochrome Madness: on the roof

  1. I’m sorry to read you’re feeling a bit down and lacking inspiration right now – I hope the feeling will pass soon. But you’ve come up with some great choices for the challenge, and I’m kicking myself as I also have a photo of the cat house in Riga and I really should have included it in my post!

  2. Ritva, you are not alone in going through times of feeling uninspired. Even through all that, these images are delightful. I especially loved the contrasts in the second photo. The lines and details on the chair and everything in the foreground compared to the softness of the sky in the background is wonderful. 😊

  3. Beautiful images Ritva, especially the cat on the roof. I hope you feel more positive soon. This year my intention is to be resilient. So far it seems to be carrying me through some tough issues. Take care and be resilient!

  5. Don’t beat yourself up Ritva, it happens to us all. It may be your body and mind demanding some down-time, so you might do well to accept this pause in your undoubted creativity. And there’s nothing wrong with these images. But the cat made me smile, and that’s always a win.

  6. The photos are still very beautiful and atmospheric despite your spring fatigue. It seems to me that spring fatigue is a very Scandinavian thing. I wonder if it is the sun light, or a long time without it.

  7. Ritva, I really enjoyed these images, especially the plastic chair on the roof overlooking the ocean. Many of us had had similar feelings at one time or another. I hope these feelings will quickly pass.

  8. Ritva, I hope you find your way back to feeling well. These photos are nice and evocative, especially the one with the chair. Those clouds are beautiful.

  9. For not being in the mood to be inspired, you have produced some wonderful photos Ritva. Like everyone, the cat is exceptionally great and you are the only snow on the roof photo.
    Seasonal melancholy strikes us all at sometime. Maybe when the buds burst into leaves and flowers you’ll feel excited about life once more.

    The cat on the rooftop is priceless. I’ve seen dragons on rooftops, but never a cat.
