Patti from P.A. Moed – CREATIVE EXPLORATION IN WORDS AND PICTURES wrote: Show us buildings, skylines, the streets, the people, and life in public spaces. Or, if you want, focus on two cities, and compare their features. This is an interesting challenge, I am sure to come across to many places I have never visited and have an urge to visit – add them to my bucket list of unseen destinations.
I don’t have that huge amount of city shots from many cities, when we travel we mostly visit nature locations. When we visited Australia, my cousin was the best host and travel guide to Brisbane. He drove us around and showed us places we wouldn’t have thought about or, to be truthful, known about. It was a truly eye-opening experience, discovering hidden gems and local secrets that only a native would be privy to. It’s amazing how much richer a travel experience can be when guided by someone with a deep connection to the place. Our trip to Australia remains a cherished memory, and it’s all thanks to the unique perspectives and insider knowledge provided by my wonderful cousin.

Brisbane, port, capital of Queensland, Australia, and the country’s third largest city. It lies astride the Brisbane River on the southern slopes of the Taylor Range, 12 miles (19 km) above the river’s mouth at Moreton Bay. You can see my photos of Brisbane CBD , Wheel of Brisbane, and Story Bridge just naming few.

We also visited Streets Beach at South Bank Australia’s only inner-city, man-made beach boasts a sparkling blue lagoon surrounded by white, sandy beaches and sub-tropical plants. It is an oasis in the middle of Brisbane City.

I enjoyed Ann-Christine’s circular challenge last week, who would have thought of how many circular things there are around us. Next week Tina from TRAVELS AND TRIFLES will once again bring us a new topic to challenge ourselves with. Until then, keep on smiling ☺.

I enjoyed this tour from a continent I’ve never visited. You’re right about how wonderful it is when someone who really knows a city shows you around, and you have given us a lively travelogue.
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed it Margaret
Thanks Ritva for these great impressions of Brisbane.
Have a lovely sunday 🙂
Thanks Rudi, and I did enjoy my Sunday.
oh nice… so many skyscrapers in Brisbane. I haven’t been there so thanks for giving me a glimpse of this city.
happy to do that, thanks Teresa
A good guide can make all the difference. I didn’t realize how many high-rise buildings Brisbane had. You got some wonderful photos. I really like the very first one and the one with the boat.
It does, help, and it was a surprise to me too. Thanks Janet
A very enjoyable tour of Brisbane. It’s much closer to sea level compared to my capital of Melbourne. Brisbane is more prone to flooding too.
The high-rise buildings are much further apart and a totally different cityscape to Melbourne (and Sydney). Most of the buildings look new and the architecture more modern in many ways.
(BTW I only read last week that Sydney has a ban on such high-rise buildings. I didn’t know that).
I really enjoyed both cities you mentioned, we visited both when in Australia. I could easily have posted from both. Melbourne was a lovely place, unfortunately we were there only for few days.
You’re right, it’s always rewarding to visit a city with someone who knows it well. Your images of Brisbane show the benefits of that, with so much variety to them. I once changed planes there but have never visited, so I enjoyed seeing it through your eyes 🙂
Thanks Sarah, the advantage to see them from above was great.
Lovely cityscapes.
Thanks VJ
Welcome
What a wonderful city tour Ritva. Like you, when we travel we go to National and State parks. Once when the kids were little, we stopped in San Francisco and stayed in a parking lot campground. All we had to wear were camping clothes–they were clean! We visited the city and went into the well known hotels, etc. Boy, did we get looks!
Well, you dress and pack according to your plans. But I do know the feeling of not being dressed accordingly to standards. Luckily now does it is much casual. I remember when you dressed up to fly 😀
😊
Majestic Cityscapes!
Loved each one of them.
That is so nicely said, thank you
You are welcome, my friend.
It is always a great advantage to have someone available who knows the location and can share their own insights. Great examples, Ritva!
Thanks John, absolutely agree
Not surprisingly Ritva, you’ve created a marvelous travelogue for Brisbane! The images are amazing and your host must have been a wonderful guide. Beautifully done.
Thanks Tina, yes he was very knowledgeable.
Fantastic post, Ritva. Now I need to visit Brisbane. 😊 It is far more cosmopolitan/urban than I expected. Your galleries are terrific! I love how you’ve incorporated the skyline in so many of them. Beautifully and artfully done!!
Thanks Patti, the advantage from being above or by the river little bit further away. Great challenge for sure 🙂
Wow. High quality photos as always. Clear, sharp focus, colorful. Fascinating cityscape, lots of skyscrapers but with open space between. Beautiful!
It was lovely to see from above. Thanks John!
A great city tour, Ritva, and your photos are terrific!!
Thanks Sylvia
We’ve been to Brisbane and we took photos but I have to say your photos are incredible.
Thanks Thomas, glad you think so.
Wow, Ritva! I did not have any idea how beautiful Brisbane was. Your photos are like postcards. Great gallery and post.
Thanks Egídio!
It is great when you get a guided tour Ritva. Love the shots you got.
Thanks Leanne.
Anything in Australia is on my bucket list, and n9w your photos have put Brisbane on the map.
I am with I.J. Anything Australia is on my bucket list as well. How fun to have family as a guide. You showcased the city with such precision as only you can do, Ritva. I would love the lagoon at Streets Beach. Appropriate name. Very nice. Ritva.
Fabulous photos. I like that they all have water. The one with the River Tours boat is my favorite
I agree, it’s always rewarding to visit a city with someone who knows it well. And your showcasing Brisbane is our joy! What great photos you got and made the city known, to me at least – never seen much of it before. Really loved the beaches in the middle of the city, and your opener is a stunner.
A different post from you that just shows how versatile your photography is. Wonderful post, Ritva!
Thanks Sofia, much appreciated 🙂
