For this challenge, Egídio invites us to explore “Where Does It Lead?” in whatever direction speaks to us. To get us started, here are three ways to approach the prompt: the most literal reading is a path itself—a trail you can follow on foot or on wheels. The compositional reading is not about what the path is, but how it guides the eye. The interpretive reading opens the prompt up wide—to tracks and traces, or metaphor.
This time I focused only on paths and roads that felt somehow different from the others. The first three images share a similar, warm color tone that guides the eye forward like a soft leading line, before the mood slowly cools and slips into gentle blue tones. The surfaces, bends, and intersections in the roads seem to echo this change in light, moving from a comforting glow to a quieter, more distant feeling as the colors fade toward blue.

I want to thank all of you who shared your thoughts on my music theme. It was so much fun to read your responses, and I loved seeing how many of you have a similar taste in music. I also learned a lot about artists, genres, and traditions from different parts of the world, and your insights have given me new ideas and inspiration for future playlists and projects.
Egídio, thank you for leading us this week; I had fun in my quest to lead us somewhere. When joining in, remember to tag your entry with Lens-Artists and link it to Egidio’s original post. Next week, Tina will feature a new challenge, which will go live at noon EST in the USA. Tune in then to her lovely site to learn more about the challenge.
You can keep up with all of our challenges by subscribing to the Lens-Artists team members websites: Tina, Patti, Ann-Christine, John, Sofia, Anne, Egidio, Beth. Ritva,

Until then, let’s keep exploring, broadening our horizons, and maintaining a positive mindset

It’s so hard to pick a favourite, Ritva! Obviously, the first few are stunning but then I really liked your Finnish aerial. I love the sharpness of Crete’s textures too. Excellent post.
Thanks Sofia
Great photos, I really like the dock image and the winding coastal road above. Really pulled my eyes in to both.
Love these examples – my favorite is the children on the beautiful fall colored trail!!
Beautiful (and interesting) examples for the challenge, Ritva. I love that final image of the winding coastal road.
I’ve always loved going for a road trip, but your example, in the beautiful coastal region, is just about as perfect as it can get. Lovely scenery, calm waters, and the path leading to wherever it goes.
It’s not the destination that always matters. I often think it’s the journey itself that is worth our time, imagination and wonder we experience along the way.
Oh so beautiful colours. Ritva, and I especially love the forest trail with the children. Also Crete – is it maybe the Samaria Gorge? I remember it well – a gorgeous trek.
A lovely post as always Ritva. This week the golden images definitely caught my eye as our autumns here in the southern US are sorely lacking. Our trees are primarily evergreen and our beautiful oak trees stay green almost the entire year. I do miss autumn in the north but not the way it always meant the cold of winter would soon arrive!
Ritva, your opening images are beautiful in their warm color range, especially that opening photo. My favorite, though, is that trail in Crete with the mountain range in the background. As always, a gorgeous response.
Beautiful images Ritva, I especially love the depth of field in your capture of the children on the forest trail 🧡✨️ xxx
You have taken us on a wonderful journey with these photos, Ritva! From the peaceful autumn woods to the dramatic mountains of Crete and Norway, each road really makes you wonder where it leads. The aerial view of Espoo is also a fantastic addition to the theme. Wonderful post! 🗺️✈️
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the journey Aura
Beautiful images, amd I love the way you sequenced them according to the colour tones. I think the opener is my favourite, for the warm autumn colours and the way it captures a child’s urge to explore.
Thanks Sarah, I was trying to find some “glue” between the photos. I appreciate you noticing that
So beautiful Ritva. We don’t get much of an autumn here, having to into downtown Sacramento to catch the trees changing color.
You have other advantages, if you don’t get that
Yes, mild winters!
The first and last images are my favorites. Well done Ritva.
Thanks Brad
😊
Ritva, I’ll echo what has been said here. These images are stunning. I especially liked the forest trail in full autumn glow, the wooden bridge, and the aerial shot. The rugged trail in Crete is also amazing. It leads the viewer to an unknown place as it rises with those mountain views in the back. This is a superb gallery.
Thank you Egídio, I had so many road photos to choose from, and I had hard time picking these. Glad you enjoyed and commented on the post
Ritva, your images are stunning. My favorite is the two children on the trail in the golden autumn woods.
Thanks Beth, I am happy you enjoy the shot
Great post, Ritva. I really like your dock image (can’t you just picture kiddos running its length and jumping off?) and the last (winding road). Lovely! pp
Thanks Pam, the dock was a last minute addition, I am glad you liked it.
