Talk Talk

Some info I found about this song

It’s his life indeed. Talk Talk was fronted by Mark Hollis , this song “It’s My Life,” a manifesto of sorts where he asserts his independence.

Last Photo for November 2023

Last Photo for November 2023 that’s what bushboys world wants to see with following rules and tags

Your last photo doesn’t have to be on the very last day of the month if you didn’t take any photos on that day. Maybe it was earlier in the month when the last photo was taken.

This one is from my Sony and a macro lens of the colorful berries, but my focus went a stray…

The view from my bedroom was taken with my iPhone 14, just because I spotted some blue sky, it was on the 29th.

So let’s see what you have for **

The rules are simple:
1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 30th November or whenever your last photo was taken.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do

Monochrome – Abstracts

Leanne’s post title, Something Abstract, gave me an idea…

How does this explanation strike you ? This image is a visual representation of the complexity and chaos of life. It shows how we are all connected by thin threads of fate, but also how we can get lost in the maze of choices and consequences. The image evokes a sense of mystery and wonder, as well as a feeling of isolation and confusion.

Abstract

This image has been processed to create an abstract effect. A random noise function to create small dots and lines on the image. The result is a high-contrast image that resembles a tangled web of lines and dots.

Is this Abstract?

The beauty and fragility of nature. As if it is saying goodbye to the summer. The image is blurred, creating a dreamy and nostalgic effect.

How to survive November 2023 – 30

Today, once again the day is five minutes shorter. Tomorrow – it’s December! I survived, thanks for the company! Only 21 days of growing darkness then slowly we are going towards the light.

I was wondering what to post as my last photo and pastry came to mind. The cannoli shells are perfectly tender and flaky, like a flake away in your mouth kind of texture.

The ricotta cannoli filling is rich and deliciously sweetened, and those little flecks of almonds swirled throughout just amp up that already immensely satisfying flavor.

It is here a again the most cruel month of the year. It is dark and getting darker, and the same time as it is the challenge to post something edible every day of the month of November, I can do it, how about you? What to join us? There is a link below if you’re interested

Street photography – festive season

These are taken in front of the Helsinki railway station, in the first shot you can see Ateneum museum with its seasonal lights, couple years back.

Seasonal lights welcoming shopper to city center with the lights reflecting on the wet pavement,

Below is a digital artwork I made by being inspired by the first photo.

Street photography – sidewalk lights

The street lights are my stars
They make a warm wave on the wet black path
I sail along their bright trail
They keep me safe from the dark wrath

Walking down a path in the dark can be both exhilarating and unnerving. With each step, uncertainty lingers, as shadows dance and imagination runs wild. So, with a flicker of determination in our hearts, we step forward, embracing the mystery that lies ahead on the path in the dark.

Today, once again the day is five minutes shorter. Snow has covered the ground and it looks very pretty outside. One more day of November to endure, it has gone past quicker and easier than I imagined it would be, that is great.

Chicken and vegetables and lots of spices.

Street photography – I walk alone

The night is cold and dark
A light drizzle was falling
I walk alone
With no one else to meet

Oodi is my destination
The light is my guide
I hope to find some inspiration
Or at least a place to hide

How to survive November 2023 – 28

Today, once again the day is five minutes shorter. It is snowing and it’s cold. Nothing new on that front, winter is really on its way. I try to ignore the darkness by watching way too much television. The warm fire glow from the fireplace warms our house and creates a a cosy atmosphere, that is one thing I enjoy.

Ravioli and shrimp, what a tasty lunch. Need say no more 🙂

How to survive November 2023 – 27

Today the sunrise was at 8:51 and sunset 15:30. Coldest day yet, -12C , but the windfactor makes it even colder. -18C / -1F . I have no desire to go out.

Month is nearly done and you have been overloaded with food photography I’m sure. Few more days.

My neighbor a avid mushroom picker, had more and enough of these funnel chanterelles so she kindly gave me some, and yes, I had to take some photos of them before preparing them

Yesterday we had a traditional “pikkujoulu” (a pre Christmas )party at our friends home. The had once again cooked us delicious meal with starter, main course, and dessert with wines to go with it. The photos are not top notch, but the food was.

Lens Artists Challenge #277: empty Spaces

This week Patti wants us to look for empty spaces. Empty Spaces. Literal or figurative, conveying aloneness . I found this to be a great pick from Patti’s post.

Some of you may be wondering if empty space is the same as negative space. TThe quick answer from an expert is that they are similar” Negative space is thought of as an image with a lot of empty space...While this is how negative space is most often used, this is not the only way….A negative space image occurs when the areas surrounding the subject are peripheral. They almost blend into the background. This causes you to focus even more on the subject.

Thanks for the inspiration, here are my choices for the week

Empty spaces are the gaps or voids between objects, words, or sounds. They can have different meanings and effects depending on the context and the perspective of the observer. Some people may see empty spaces as opportunities for creativity, exploration, or reflection. Others may perceive them as sources of anxiety, loneliness, or boredom.

Empty spaces can also be used to create contrast, balance, or harmony in art, design, or music. In some cases, empty spaces can be more powerful or expressive than the filled ones.

Desert with mirage, moon, desert road

Empty beach

Chairs, empty spaces …. alone.

Driving from Nevada to California there are lots of empty spaces.

Empty space in life…often we plan and forget to live, or live in the past.

Blue moment

How to survive November 2023 – 25

Today the sunrise was at 8:46 and sunset 15:35. Coldest day yet, -8C / 17F feels like -12C / 11F due to wind factor. But it is sunny.

Liquid food from the Bridgehill Estate. Yesterday we bottled the summer memories to bottles.

We made two different flavors, red currant with added vanilla and lemon and bilberry liquor with vanilla. Best served cold.

flow and foam, river run wild

Lock on a dam
Monochrome of Lock in a dam

Flowing and foaming, the river runs wild,
Bringing me joy, making me feel
With not a worry or care in sight,
It spins me around, filling me with delight.
Flowing and foaming, the river runs free,
A place of solace, where I can be me.
You are my escape, my source of glee,
In your embrace, I feel completely free.

Saturday Classics – 25112023

Known for her powerful bluesy voice, Alison Moyet first came to prominence as half of the synthpop duo Yazoo alongside future Erasure star Vince Clarke.

‘Only You’ by Yazoo is a truly fantastic track from the synthpop era of the early 1980s.

In 1981, Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode. Worried that Mute Records would drop him as a result, he decided to write a song for the label called ‘Only You’.

Clarke originally wrote the music for the song on a guitar, and later converted the riff into synthesizer notes. While writing the lyrics, Clarke said: “It was a very simple arrangement. I just formed words on a piece of paper. Clarke wrote ‘Only You’ as a sentimental ballad, and wanted to find a singer who could perform it with emotion. ‘Only You’ is considered a ‘torch song’, and is about the end of a relationship. The singer knows the difficult relationship is over, but desperately hopes to be proven wrong.

He had heard Moyet perform with other bands on the pub circuit, and felt she was a perfect fit for the song. He asked Moyet if she was interested in singing for a demo… and the end is history

With the beauty of Alison Moyet’s vocals  it turned out to be a hit.

Today the sunrise was at 8:44 and sunset 15:35. A bit of snow, cloudy… nothing new to report 🙂

You Might Feel More Energized. Have an egg a day

They come in a small and affordable package, eggs pack an impressive nutritional punch. The yolk is a source of important nutrients like vitamin B12, vitamin D and choline, which are all important for helping our bodies process food into energy we can use. And energy we need during these dark months.

And they are a great topic for minimalist photography

How to survive November 2023 – 23

Today the sunrise was at 8:42 and sunset 15:36. Last night we had strong winds – a winter storm. We didn’t get any snow, but some parts of the country did. Today we have blue skies which is uplifting and so nice.

I could order this meal again.

Stained glass Door, and windows

Welcome to the Parliament Building, home to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

. The Parliament Buildings were officially opened on February 10, 1898. I visited the building in 2016

Stained glass door in the Parliament Building, all of their stained glass was shipped from England to Victoria. So, Even though this was a post about the doors, the windows are so much more beautiful.

How to survive November 2023 – 22

Today the sunrise was at 8:39 and sunset 15:38. Snow is in the forecast today, it is colder due to the wind factors it feels like -7C /20F so a bit nippy. Can you guess… its a gray day again.

This morning like all mornings I wake up to the smell of coffee coming from the kitchen. Not in the sense of to realize the truth about one’s situation : to become aware of what is really happening.

Well, I am aware what’s happening I am waking up for a new gray day. Most of my mornings for breakfast I enjoy a mug of coffee and some bread with it . It hadn’t even crossed my mind to take photo of bread, but I got inspired by Janet’s loaf of bread and thought I’ll take a photo of my breakfast bread today. And I did this time it was Cashew – Cranberry Ciabatta -tasty bread with cranberries and whole cashew nuts. No wine for me in the morning so my photos are more mundane

Street Photography – up and down

During the dark season the entrance and stairs at our local railway station in Kirkkonummi provides some bright colors and it is a nice contrast to the dark days. I have to say even so I prefer the monochrome images to the color ones. the Leading lines and structure is more defined. Thoughts?

The ramp down and the stair in color in monochrome. Totally different mood

How to survive November 2023 – 21

Today the sunrise was at 8:37 and sunset 15:40. it is light gray, I did see a bit of blue sky while driving to meet a friend for coffee.

So, once again I am posting a mug of coffee. I made a spontaneous request to a friend, hoping she was available to have a cup of coffee with me and most importantly to her what’s going on in her life.

So, a mug of Coffee Latte
