I will spend few more posts on the Amalfi coast. We also visited the lovely village called Positano. We could not go to the church as there was a wedding, I just popped in very quickly. Notice the two older gentlemen with strong bodyguards 🙂 arriving to the special occasion.

I was going to leave Capri, but I have to share more of the beauty I saw. I am in no hurry, the travel ban is not going to lift anytime soon. These small roads, ways, are shouting out – shoot me, that sounds bad, – take a photo, is more appropriate 🙂

Visiting Villa San Michele in Capri , looking at the long pergola and the that garden begins in the shade of the wisteria of the pergola, culminates bathed in sunlight on the Sphinx terrace and finds its end along an elegant avenue of cypresses. Every season has its flowers and scents of camellias, tree peonies, hydrangeas, vines and orange blossom.

Visiting Villa San Michele in Capri , looking at Hermes
Where the sculpture loggia ends and the long pergola begins stands a bronze statue that somehow marks the transition between indoors and out of doors. It represents the messenger of the gods, Hermes, sitting at rest. The small wings on the sides of his feet are folded. The sculpture is a turn of the 19th century copy of an antique original which was excavated in Herculaneum and now stands in the Archaeological Museum in Naples. This work of art was a gift to Munthe from the City of Naples in recognition of his relief work during the cholera epidemic 1884-85. (text: villasanmichele.eu/collection)

Today’s invitation goes all the way to Finland, where Ritva is trying to survive the dark of a Scandinavian winter. Take us away to somewhere sunny, Ritva, and if you do, link or pingback to my post/blog. Or just enjoy my photo when it gets dark, Janet thanks, I did enjoy yours 🙂

Both these have the some action already happening to something good to appear. This is why I keep writing these blog posts, maybe I will find the way to inspiration. My other favorite is:
This trip down the memory lane to one of our travels to Thailand brought back to my attention some of the photos taken there. This is also at Koh Yao Noi. This woman walking on the beach at low tide pick goods from the beach on the way.
Memories of travels past – this is from out bugalow in Koh Yao Noi at low tide. It was like been at our summer house as it was as quiet. Hardy any tourists there at that time
Views from Terrace Riga over the roofs in Riga, sitting there I could see the whole views of Old Riga. Once again stating the obvious, that deteriorating building are picturesque. These photos are from several years back, but I came a cross these and thought I’d share them with you.
I have been lazy and on holiday, we have done few trips to town near us.
The grey stone church was built in the 1680s
Ekenäs Old Town with its wooden houses spreads out to the seashore. The street names tell the story of the life of the townspeople and how they got along hundreds of years ago. Here, the streets have stayed the same since the 16th century. Street names such as the Hatter’s Street , Linen Weaver’s Street , Cloth Weaver’s Street , Smith’s Street and Tanner’s Street reveal that Barcken’s peninsula in Ekenäs once was populated by skillful craftsmen.
The grey stone church was built in the 1680s on the initiative of Count Gustaf Adolf Leijonhufvud. The church was badly damaged in a fire and owes its present appearance to the reconstruction in the mid-1800s. The latest restoration was made in 1989-1990. There are several valuable items in the church, including a pulpit from the 1600s.
Most of the buildings in the Old Town date from the late 18th and the 19th century, but the area grew out of a 16th century fishing village that the Swedish king Gustav Vasa granted a town charter in 1546 – a few years before Helsinki.
In the summer, you can peep over the fences to the enclosed courtyards. The small signs with names of fish, as given to the blocks in the 19th century, and the cast-iron lamp posts give the face of the Old Town that little extra. The small street mirrors or “gossip mirrors” in the windows, elegantly crafted garden gates and the intricately decorated window frames are all details worth spending time looking at.
