Time has a way of speeding by, particularly as I age. Here we are once more on a Monday, and I’m embracing the tradition of sharing windows through Monday Window. Each week is filled with the daily routines, but this opportunity allows me to simply revel in sharing a window that piqued my interest. This one appeared especially welcoming!
I observed this charming building facade that exuded a nostalgic charm, characterized by a large, open window framed in cream with delicate blue accents. The scene captured my attention due to the inviting sight of green potted plants and the warm glow of a table lamp visible through the tilted panes. The subtle signs of wear on the beige wall, including small cracks and peeling paint, added a vintage allure that spoke of history and stories untold. An artistic drawing of an ornate spoon to the left and a black sign with green foliage below provided contextual details that enriched the composition. This captivating blend of elements sparked my creative instinct to capture the window the unique interplay of urban life and artistic expression.

I am excited to share photos from a restaurant in Tallinn, where the atmosphere was absolutely vibrant that day! The sun shone brilliantly, encouraging all the customers to enjoy their meals outside. I was particularly enchanted by how the Rotermann kvartal beautifully blends old and new buildings, celebrating the city’s rich history alongside its modern innovations. The architecture tells a delightful story, reflecting the perfect harmony of tradition and progress that defines Tallinn. As I framed the shot, I was immediately captivated by the stylish, modern restaurant interior that unfolded before me, where exposed stone and brick walls created a perfect blend of rustic charm and sophistication. The large arched windows at the far end poured natural light into the space, illuminating the high ceiling adorned with visible beams and industrial-style lighting fixtures that hung gracefully above. My lens caught the wooden tables and chairs neatly arranged along the polished wooden floor, complemented by glassware and cutlery that sparkled in the sunlight. The service counter, lined with bottles and glassware, contributed to the warm, inviting atmosphere. I couldn’t help but notice the Staff in blackl attire, adding life to the setting and embodying the vibrant, welcoming experience that harmoniously merged historic architecture with contemporary design elements.

I captured these images to highlight the striking juxtaposition of modern and historic architecture in a single frame. The glass facade, with its slanted design, serves as a reflective canvas, beautifully mirroring the old stone wall and staircase, showcasing how these contrasting styles can coexist. The presence of two bicycles, one black and the other red with a charming basket, adds a touch of life and accessibility to the scene, emphasizing the building’s role in everyday urban life. The warm light fixtures within the interior cast a soft yellow glow that creates an inviting atmosphere, enriching the cool tones of stone and glass. This blend of contemporary and historic elements not only caught my eye but also instills a sense of calm and quiet within the bustling environment, making it a perfect moment to capture.

In capturing this image, I aimed to highlight the harmonious relationship between architecture and nature. The reflective glass panels not only offer a contemporary aesthetic but also serve as a canvas that mirrors the vibrant surroundings, emphasizing the beauty of our environment. The sign “LEVIER,” prominently displayed, represents a connection between people and place, and its reflection speaks to the integration of the structure in its locale. The warm illumination evokes a sense of welcome, inviting those who view it to appreciate the urban landscape. By including the lush greenery and the wooden bench, I wanted to remind viewers of the importance of nature in our daily lives, even in a bustling cityscape.

An old, weathered building caught my eye, its facade worn and crumbling. The central focus for me was the wooden door, partially broken and barricaded, as if guarding secrets from the past. The door is framed by a stone archway, its edges chipped and revealing the bricks beneath made me stop to look more closely as it gave the entrance so much depth.
On either side of the door, partially closed white shutters cover windows, hinting at a time when life once thrived within. Nature has begun to reclaim the space: grass grows defiantly, and tree branches reach out, casting shadows. I felt the overall mood was somber yet serene, evoking feelings of nostalgia and the inexorable passage of time.
The image below suggests it’s the same building by the first glance, or very similar one, by the looks of it also looks like it’s been abandoned. I have no recollection if this is the case. In this shot the main focus is an old, curved wooden door it is set within a worn-out stone archway, where the stones have eroded to reveal the bricks underneath, but not so obviously as in the previous entrance.
There are several white-framed windows along the walls, each with a small ledge below. One of the windows on the upper left side holds potted plants on its ledge, bringing some life to the otherwise deserted scene. Some of the windows suggest that this is not totally abandoned, just a wild guess on my part. I took these photo several year back in Estonia.

One of my memorable experiences was in Mirissa, Sri Lanka. We went whale watching and were so lucky to be able to see at two blue whales, the one below one was the best, very rare – this one swam underneath our boat. The captain told everyone to shut up when he spotted it or he would throw the one who spoke overboard. Only if you keep quiet the blue whale might approach you – you can’t chase them. We were lucky and this magnificent animal visited us.
