Lens-Artists Challenge #295 – Rock Your World

Let’s Rock Your World this week – I will try my best to do as requested. Donna invites us to showcase anything from rocky landscapes to cobblestone streets. I know for sure this is a topic that is close to Donna’s heart, she has so often shared her love to rock formations – as she has showed once again in her beautiful photos. Her post gives us so many beautiful examples of how to approach this challenge. She does know her rocks and captures them beautifully.

I sometimes struggle to get terms right. The solid rock that exists below the ground surface is called bedrock. This type of rock is “in place,” unlike material that has been moved from another location by weathering and erosion. Bedrock forms the foundation for the layers of soil and sediment above it, which is super important for supporting entire ecosystems and shaping the landscape. Plus, the characteristics of bedrock can really affect how landscapes form, how groundwater moves, and even how soil develops. I live next to bedrock – a hill with trees and moss over it.

My life is built on a solid rock as Finland’s bedrock belongs to the old Precambrian (period 4,600 – 570 million years ago) in the bedrock area of Northern and Eastern Europe, or the Fennosarmatian bedrock craton, which is one of the oldest parts of the Eurasian continent.

Beaches and seaside are great places to enjoy the smooth surface of rocks, solid or not.

I love sitting at beaches, seaside watching the water hit the rocks and cliffs. Or piling them up. So meditative.

Stones, rocks are used in old castles this example is from Raasepori. The tunnel and walls of Suomenlinna fortress. Old Stone Church of Lammi is solid as a rock. As are the stone steps and walls from this old building.

I am ending this post same sentiment as Donna. He is as the song says, solid as a rock, is and has been for over 40 years.

Last week we learned so much froms Johns Before and After challenge. Next week I am hosting, hope I will be able to bring you something interesting enough to get your imagination flowing.

Until then, keep smiling ☺

How to survive November 2020-16

Smooth rocks from the beach

Now it is a typical November, Monday morning. Even gray, dim light and slightly colder +4,5C, it has drizzled a bit as the ground is wet. One of those uninspiring days that you come across every now and then, though often in November.

Today started as it normally does, wake up, quick read of the news in bed, as I have no desire to get up. My hubby has already risen had his coffee and is working in his office, so I am in no hurry. But habit makes it hard to stay in bed too long. So up I get, have my coffee, read yesterdays news from the newspaper, alright there are some articles that are better read from the paper.

I am surprising myself as I decide to marinade our todays lunch at breakfast, Teriyaki chicken is on the menu today, with bell peppers, onion and zucchini with rise. So ambitious of me 🙂

Now I need to relax, so much done, as the the day is what it is. Yes, a warm, very warm bath will relax me!

So Now I need to figure out what is my photo of the day going to be, me in a bubble bath, Hmmn… Food photo, marinating chicken does not look that appealing in a photo. Rocks from the ocean will go wit the music I chose to bring to your attention. Do have a listen 🙂 (Sounds so British )

Smooth rocks from the beach

I say this question in FB What is the best TV Theme song of all time? The first song that came to mind was The Onedin Line ( Merilinja) so I listened to this piece of music, it brought so many memories back

The other one I Love is, Myrskyluodon Maija, this one always brings tears to my eyes, it you have not heard this please listen, it is beautiful.

Rock art

Kopparnäs rock area is a multi-streaked rock type; the toughest the rock types are quartz-feldspar gneiss alongside the stripe is gneiss, granite and some shale rock types.

Pebble beach

This is so much fun and meditating, piling rocks on top of each other trying it not to fall. Nice October afternoon was a plus. Would this be your kind of fun?

Lovers Point

Lovers Point Park has above all become Pacific Grove’s best-loved spot for scenic photography. Because of its unique east-facing location, it is also one of the only spots on the West Coast where you can watch the sun rise over the water, but we were not lucky the morning was gray and misty. Still it was a nice spot to visit first thing in the morning.

The colors of beach

Cypress Point Club beach

I love watching the ocean, the waves, changing colors of blue and green. The warm sand underneath my toes. Sun.

Traveling Eastern Finland #3½

These are photos I took of the Imatra Rapids before the flow started. The colors on the rock formation and reflection were lovely a joy to the eyes

Afternoon at Liuskasaari

We stopped to have coffee at Pop up Kahvila Liuskasaari. If you visit the island be sure to pop there. Nice and friendly service and the pancakes and coffee were delicious.

Rocks, sand, dirt, paths, walks, trails

The wine  goes down so smoothly,  the  lipstick covered lips smoothly touch  the rim of the glass, white the fingers can feel the smoothness of the glass. If in  Stress, touch the smooth rock to relive the tension. you will feel calm and cool – smooth as ice.

🙂 I should not attempt to write anything… let the photos speak for themselves.
