Autumn Vibes and Beauty Through Windows

This week has been all about dreamy, autumn vibes, exploring the beauty of windows and ceramics that encapsulate the season’s essence. I feel that I was able to capture the most significant elements into this image taken through these old windows, where the soft, golden light filters in, casting gentle shadows. To enhance the mood, I did a bit of color editing, as the original photo was taken during summer, making it feel quite different with the cooler tones. I will include the original image as well for those who prefer the vibrant brighter and more cooler summer aesthetic; however, please note that the figure in the picture is a statue, not a man with little imagination you could make it the ceramic in this post. A statue adds intrigue, creating a whimsical conversation piece about the intersection of art and nature in our everyday lives.

A dreamy autumn scene captured through a window, showcasing soft golden light and a statue basking in light from all directions .

A whimsical sight of a statue seen through a window, capturing the essence of cooler toners and light od summer.

I’m at my summer house, in the countryside, inside watching outside as the rain pours down the windows, creating a rhythm with the wind that makes everything feel peaceful. As I try to pass the time, I took a few photos, capturing the raindrops cascading down the glass, and had an ‘aha’ moment when I remembered that our shed, in the corner of the yard, is painted a red, which contrasts with the lush greenery surrounding it, just what I need for simply red today.

The Warm Glow of Lights Across the Road

Watching the lights across the road, the kelvins seem to be low as all the windows glow in a warm yellow color, casting an inviting aura that contrasts sharply with the icy chill outside. The atmosphere feels cosy, as if the world is wrapped in a gentle embrace of light, creating a sanctuary amid the frosty scenery. Even though the wind blows snow sideways outside the building, the warmth emanating from the interiors provides a sense of comfort and peace.

My last is from my workplace window on a frosty morning, second day I had to scrape the car windows from ice. Note; not happy.

the windows frame the view beautifully. The gentle sway of the trees outside provides a soothing soundtrack, completing the tranquil ambiance that the windows so perfectly capture.

Old vacant building windows

These images of an old vacant building from Tallinn are from ten years back, but now I decided to share them with you. The building itself has quite a history, I am sure, but I do not know it , having served different purposes over the years before being left vacant. The windows, the patterns of peeling paint, weathered wood, and the play of light and shadows.

These windows are my entry for this week for Ludwigs Monday Window challenge, a perfect opportunity to showcase the timeless beauty and mystery captured within these frames.

Vizcaya Museum – interiors and windows

These windows are from inside the Vizcaya Museum showing interiors and beautiful old high windows. I love the grandeur of the interior and the windows in old buildings are so stylish.

the Factors Walk windows

River Street is  along the broad Savannah River. The century old buildings, once cotton warehouses, have been converted to antique shops, distinctive boutiques, spectacular galleries, quaint brew pubs, fabulous restaurants, unique nightspots, elegant inns and hotels.

we visited the section known as the Factors Walk, an original cotton trading area. It was constructed in 1817 and contains several pedestrian bridges that cross over the street below. Taking time to cross the bridges and reflect on the lives of those almost two centuries past, is mesmerizing. These walks have surely been crossed hundreds of thousands of times by many a hard working soul.

yellow facade & rectangular windows

A building with a warm, yellow facade, features rectangular windows, each framed in white. On the left side, a small balcony french balcony. Shadows of bare tree branches are cast upon the building’s facade, creating an artistic pattern. The blue sky reflected in the windows show the fair weather of this day.

The warm yellow hue of the building’s facade, the crisp white window frames, and the intricate patterns created by the tree shadows make this shot interesting.

Echoes of Time: The Forgotten Ruins

This is an old barn that at one point burned but the ruins are still standing. You are not supposed to enter the building, but as you can see, I am not the only one who has been there.

Echoes of Time: The Forgotten Ruins

The whispers of history cling to the air like cobwebs, stands a relic of the past—a crumbling brick building. Its walls, once proud and sturdy, now bear the weight of time and neglect.

The focal point of the scene is the remnants of an arched brick structure. Each brick tells a story—a laborer’s sweat, a mason’s precision, and the dreams of generations. The arch, though weathered, still holds a hint of elegance, as if it once welcomed visitors with open arms. But now, it stands as a silent witness to the passage of time.

A door, stubbornly clinging to its frame, beckons me closer. Its dark brown hue suggests years of exposure to the elements. Now, it hangs askew, its wood softened by rain and sun.

Around the ruins, nature reclaims its dominion. Fallen leaves carpet the ground, their fiery hues contrasting with the gray of decay.

Above, an overcast sky weeps silently. It mirrors the melancholy of the scene below. Raindrops, like tears shed for lost memories, have etched patterns on the bricks. The clouds seem to mourn the passage of time, obscuring the sun that once bathed this place in warmth.

For even in decay, there is beauty—a quiet resilience that defies oblivion. And so, I leave the ruins behind, carrying their echoes within me, a witness to their silent tale.

old geranium is on grandma’s windowsill

Here is this week’s entry . There is a song in Finland called Tango pelargonia. It came to my mind when I rediscovered this image from Tammisaari.

The old geranium is on grandma’s windowsill
and under the window
sings a street singer.
He sings to my grandmother …

Night shadows

Sleepless in Kirkkonummi

When you cannot fall asleep can truly be overwhelming. The struggle of tossing and turning in bed, desperately trying to find a comfortable position as the minutes tick by. The sensation of aches and pains only adds to the anxiety, and the mind races with thoughts, making it even more difficult to find peace. As you lay there, all of this happening, to hear the gentle rhythm of your husband’s breathing as he peacefully can sometimes be annoying.

In those moments, the smallest details can capture our attention, offering a brief distraction from the turbulent thoughts. The way the light filters through the slightly open door, casting shadows on the door. And so, I reached for my phone, seeking to capture a sliver of tranquility in the midst of chaos

As I approached the room, I saw a deer right outside the window, peacefully nibbling on the tree just in front of the window. It was a serene and charming sight. Mesmerized by the scene, I found myself standing there, watching the deer for what felt like an eternity, completely lost in the moment. After a while, I reluctantly tore myself away and hurried back to retrieve my camera, hoping to capture the enchanting moment. However, by the time I returned, the deer had gracefully moved on.

Instead of getting the shot of the deer I imagined getting, I got these.

Capturing the play of light and shadows in a room at night , the way the light softly filters through the blinds, casting intricate shadows on the walls, adds an ethereal quality to the scene. There’s something enchanting about night photography, as it offers a unique perspective on familiar surroundings. The interplay of darkness and light creates a captivating atmosphere.

Monday window – Fading Memories

This buildings evokes a sense of nostalgia, mystery, and the passage of time. The building stands as a silent witness to stories untold, waiting for someone to unravel its secrets. The old, weathered building with visible signs of wear and tear. The architecture, though aged, has a distinct character that draws the eye.

Its walls, once proud and white, now bear the scars of time—cracked bricks, peeling paint, and a sense of melancholy. The window, a relic of better days, gazes out onto the road.

A bittersweet nostalgia hangs in the air—the ache of what was and the whisper of what might have been. The window yearns for a pair of eyes to look through it once more, to see beyond decay and find beauty in fragments. The overcast sky casts a soft light, enhancing the eerie and abandoned feel of the scene.

Ludwig’s Monday Window I found these from my archive – do not know the state of the building now as this was taken several years ago.

old warehouse windows

Visiting old barns and warehouses were most of the available things that are on sale are used is fun, and we often go to these places for fun and finds. We bought our bed head from one of these places – and old solid wood door. When we were fixing our summerhouse that is built in 1938 needed to have it’s windows fixed- these is were we were able find new ones, the old window frames are done with so much better wood. You can find even old nails, fireplace shutters ( I don’t know if that is at right word for them), lumber.

Some finds from the warehouse, signs, nails, windows and frames also a batch of new hand colored alpaca wool.

Doggies in the window

The photos shows the dogs in the window looking all curious and excited. They bark a welcome as we go by. It’s like they’re our neighbor’s official greeters when we drive towards our summer house. The way the dogs look and the reflection on the window give these photos a nice artistic mood.

Stained glass Door, and windows

Welcome to the Parliament Building, home to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

. The Parliament Buildings were officially opened on February 10, 1898. I visited the building in 2016

Stained glass door in the Parliament Building, all of their stained glass was shipped from England to Victoria. So, Even though this was a post about the doors, the windows are so much more beautiful.
