Views from Terrace Riga over the roofs in Riga, sitting there I could see the whole views of Old Riga. Once again stating the obvious, that deteriorating building are picturesque. These photos are from several years back, but I came a cross these and thought I’d share them with you.
Two more post for this November, this has passed so quickly! Thank you all for making it that happen, the comments and company. I am really at loss trying to come up with an idea for today.
Candles, they work as a mood enhancer so well. Together with shells from our travels they take me to the warm and sandy beaches we have visited, so looking forward to travel again, hopefully sooner than later.

This first photo is an unedited straight from my mobile that i converted to black and white image. I took it at a Pier in Kaivopuisto in Helsinki on a very misty day.
The first known reference to Haikko Manor dates back to the year 1362, but the present Manor House was built in 1913, it is located by the beautiful archipelago about 7 kilometres from Porvoo. Now days it is a Hotel Haikko Manor and Spa.
as it is not recommended that we travel abroad at the moment, we have been visiting picturesque towns and places in Finland. Let me introduce Porvoo to you again with few new photos. It was so full of local tourists that I did not take many photos from the streets. Enjoy a a small photo tour from this lovely town.
Old Porvoo, with its red-ochre painted riverside warehouses, is one of the most photographed national landscapes in Finland. Here you can admire the colorful wooden houses and stroll the winding cobbled streets – as if in a children’s story book.
I have been lazy and on holiday, we have done few trips to town near us.
Ekenäs Old Town with its wooden houses spreads out to the seashore. The street names tell the story of the life of the townspeople and how they got along hundreds of years ago. Here, the streets have stayed the same since the 16th century. Street names such as the Hatter’s Street , Linen Weaver’s Street , Cloth Weaver’s Street , Smith’s Street and Tanner’s Street reveal that Barcken’s peninsula in Ekenäs once was populated by skillful craftsmen.
The grey stone church was built in the 1680s on the initiative of Count Gustaf Adolf Leijonhufvud. The church was badly damaged in a fire and owes its present appearance to the reconstruction in the mid-1800s. The latest restoration was made in 1989-1990. There are several valuable items in the church, including a pulpit from the 1600s.
Most of the buildings in the Old Town date from the late 18th and the 19th century, but the area grew out of a 16th century fishing village that the Swedish king Gustav Vasa granted a town charter in 1546 – a few years before Helsinki.
In the summer, you can peep over the fences to the enclosed courtyards. The small signs with names of fish, as given to the blocks in the 19th century, and the cast-iron lamp posts give the face of the Old Town that little extra. The small street mirrors or “gossip mirrors” in the windows, elegantly crafted garden gates and the intricately decorated window frames are all details worth spending time looking at.

The island provides a lovely setting for outdoor recreation, sun worshippers and walkers. The tame ducks, swans and geese swarming around the white wooden bridge welcome everybody. Notice the baby swans next to the rock
Having crossed a visitors can see buildings from all over Finland that have been relocated to Seurasaari island. The buildings represent various aspects of living in Finland from the 17th century to the 20th century. There are currently 87 buildings in the museum.
The nature is strongly present in the Seurasaari Island, wild flowers, trees , small wood areas. The paths make it easy to walk around without disturbing the nature.
Summer day in Helsinki, sitting in the park people watching and enjoying tasty ice cream, having lunch at a restaurant. What a beautiful capital we have.
I Witnessed the rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles, magnificent rock stacks that rise up majestically from the Southern Ocean on Victoria’s dramatic coastline. And you can tell I was impressed by the amount of photos I took there.
Created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland beginning 10–20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs.
The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore. View the 12 Apostles at sunrise and sunset as they change colour from dark and foreboding in shadow to brilliant sandy yellow under a full sun. ( text from visit Melbourne)
Not much editing was needed here, it was a really warm sunset in yellows and oranges. Sea, Sailboat, sunset, that is a picture made of. Warm regards to all 🙂
Sitting on the the Negombo beach I watched wind surfers do their magic. Looking at the photos again I thought they would look good also with a B&W edit. What do you think?
I have very fond memories of our visit to Negombo in Sri Lanka. This was taken on the beach in front of our hotel. During the day the sand was so hot, but in the evening so nice and warm under your feet.
This is was taken in Thailand in Phuket, this a damaged vessel from the tsunami. Rust looks good in photos,not that this vessel is going to sail anymore.

I have edited a bunch of old photos some are new finds that I did not remember taking and some I am re-posting after new edits, over the years I have learned view things and I now have lightroom that i use to edit. I am able to bring out new details to some photos. This is taken n a boat as we were sailing towards Vancouver
Back to the archives, this is an old sunset photo I discovered when searching for shots that I’ve disregarded, now after editing , not so shabby.
Martins Beach on the San Mateo County coast, seven miles south of Half Moon Bay. The only way onto this scenic beach is a single road through private property. The owner restricted access to that road by displaying “No Trespassing” signs, charging parking fees, and locking its access gate.
We went there anyways as we we advised that it is a great spot for photography, as it was. We spent few hours there watching the changing skies over the ocean. The sky had different shades depending what direction you looked at and also as time passed to evening , that also had some effect. There we about five other people there also taking photos and one surfer also came.
somewhere on the coast of Big Sur we saw these men fishing among one of the many beautiful spots on this drive. I have to admit the light during this moment is great These are one of my favorites photos on a way, due to the lightning.
McWay Falls( 80-foot-tall (24 m) waterfall) is “that” waterfall in Big Sur that everyone has seen and many have photographed. That now includes me. The Cliff areas beyond the fenced boundaries, including the beach, saddle rock and the falls area are completely off limits. So the end of the trail was where you could take the photos. Our time of visit was not the best as the light was rather harsh, but we did not have the opportunity and time to pick the time of the visit.

The beautiful redwood trees are HUGE, unless you see them it is hard to imagine the size them. To think that there are people who think they should be cut down. I am blown away of the majesty of the trees. General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park it is the largest known living single-stem tree on Earth.
Height 83.8 m (275 ft), Diameter 7.7 m (25 ft), Volume of trunk 1,487 m3 (52,500 cu ft), Date seeded 700BC – 300BC
The Giant Forest, famed for its giant sequoia trees, is within the Sequoia National Park. This montane forest, situated at over 6,000 feet (1,800 m) above mean sea level. The giant sequoia tree is the most massive species of tree on earth and they are impressive for sure.
We caught up with a group of people who had a guide with them and so we discovered this three that you could crawl into and you could also see though the tree to the side and the top of the trunk a hollow tree. One more thing to be amazed about.

We arrived to Three Rivers at dusk so the only thing was to book ourselves into a motel and find a place to eat. There was nothing to take photos at this time.
Next day we are meeting old friends and heading to the Sequoia National Park to see the beautiful red woods, mountains. These are from the way up. I mean really, this is such a lovely place. I have tons of photos from out trip up, so be prepared to be overloaded with natures wonders. Art form that I so appreciate.

I loved spotting the trees on the rolling hills. Considering I took these from a moving car I think they came out rather good. For some reason this kind of images appeal to me. I often take photos of a lonely tree of few trees? Do you have a favorite topic you come back to?
