New fence

We had a fence here before and if you have been following my posts for some time you have seen several shots showing it.

We had to take it down as the foundation was not the best and it started to lean towards and backwards. We did not have anything there for couple summers, but now it is there again with a slightly different twist in the design that I came up with as we were building it. Well, mainly my husband, I won’t be able to take credit for that 😁

Enjoying his handy work

This is the new frame for many photos

Hay time

Watching others work. It is that time of the year when hay is being gathered from the fields, this summer earlier than usual

I was not expecting to have a summer holiday this year, but suddenly I found out that I could have two weeks. So hip hurray, I am on vacation 😊

Heartleaf oxeye

Heartleaf oxeye

Telekia speciosa , attracts day butterflies (nettle butterfly), honeybees and beetles as you can see and as we have to keep them safe so we will have flowers etc in the future too, this is a great flowers addition to the garden.

Morning

Good morning 😃, I woke early to start my work so I can finish up early too. Sitting on my patio working at same time watching this light play on the lawn.

What magic light can do is amazing, you just have to catch the moment

Light magic

Night sky

The night sky was so colorful

Daisy

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.” – Therese of Lisieux

In our case, summer would lost its charm as daisies bloom in the summer 🙂 here in Finland

Dark clouds

Sky is such a wonder to watch, the colors, clouds in constant change. In Finland we sure don’t have blue skies for ever. when we drive I spend most of the time watching clouds, anyone else who does that?

Ray of light

I caught the last rays of light in two backlit shot. as they made a lovely background for some weed shots 🙂 and what a difference it makes when I took it from the side…a bokeh

Side shot with bokeh

wild berries

We are now enjoying the wild strawberries – Fragaria vesca. So many names 🙂Fragaria vesca, commonly called wild strawberry, woodland strawberry, Alpine strawberry, Carpathian strawberry, European strawberry, or fraisier des bois, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the rose family that grows naturally throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere, and that produces edible fruits.

Vaccinium myrtillus or European blueberry is a species of shrub with edible fruit of blue color, commonly called bilberry, “blaeberry”, “wimberry”, “whortleberry”. It has much in common with the American blueberry. It is more precisely called common bilberry or blue whortleberry, to distinguish it from other . Regional names include blaeberry (Scotland), urts or hurts (Cornwall & Devon), hurtleberry, huckleberry, myrtleberry, wimberry, whinberry, winberry, blueberry, and fraughan.

Once again so many names 🙂

Tiny flowers

I found these tiny, tiny flowers as I looked closely to the ground during my stay at the summer house. Always a joy to capture the nature’s tiny wonders

Buttercups

as you can guess, we spent the weekend in the countryside 🙂 This summer has been so odd, all the flowers bloomed so early, at the same time and seemed that the lasted such a short while. Here are shots of buttercups.

Midsummer

The light is lovely, air soft and warm with humidity high, that’s what midsummer has been this year. We usually don’t get long hot spells, this time yes. Last night I went out after midnight and captured mist over the fields with the setting sun giving a beautiful pastel glow to the sky.

Lovely atmosphere

snails and / or slugs

we had some thunderstorms and rain yesterday, and what did I find in our backyard afterwoods, snails. These not so attractive things got to be my choice of topic.

Rose

We call this rose juhannus ruusu, a midsummer rose. This summer it has bloomed beautifully. Happy Sunday!

Dandelions

Every year I take these, every year I share them, and every time they are little bit different. Color or black and white?

Lily of the valley

Love this flower and to my joy, we have lots of them on our yard. This years photos are to be seen here

Sunday

We have tried to go home for hours but with no luck, Tinka won’t come in as she senses that we are leaving. So we took a drive to the store and saw this bright rainbow on our way back.

End of the rainbow 🌈

Then we started to watch the world ice hockey final Finland 🇫🇮- Canada 🇨🇦.

Game on…

One of my fav views

No words really needed, summer 💚

Blossoms of apple tree

In the shade of the old apple tree
When the love in your eyes I could see
When the voice that I heard, like the song of the bird
Seemed to whisper sweet music to me, I could hear the dull buzz of the bee
In the blossoms as you said to me
With a heart that is true, I’ll be waiting for you
In the shade of the old apple tree…

So happy

What a difference a day makes. We got touch of summer today, the joy of it 😊. We took a short walk at Kloppen Marina. You could see the new green taking over the brown.

Tiny forest finds

Weekend came and went so quickly, Saturday as cool so I spent most of the day in side by the fireplace with a magazine or watching tv. I was so brave that I left my laptop home 🙂

Saturday was warmer, the most significant change was that we had less wind. I walked on our plot, looking for something to take photos of as the green nature is still keeping us waiting. But it can be found in the details. Here are my small finds.

Up on the hill

Back home, enjoying the view of the pine trees from my backyard, they look nice in the early evening light

Kumian mylly

Kumian mills are located on the shore of Lake Salajärvi, the place where the landing river splits the narrow isthmus between the lake Salajärvi and lake Isokukkanen. The older, log mill building of the rubber mill dates from the 1890s and the tall wheat mill building from the 1930s.

I stopped to see how the mill has changed. It looks a bit different now than last year.

Kumiankoski is being restored to its natural state. Removing unnecessary dams is one of the easiest ways to protect and restore biodiversity.
The aim is to create a breeding ground and a hiking trail for endangered trout, among other things.
“The goal is an inherently rapids that allow fish to migrate. Planting of trout fry will begin immediately in the spring after rehabilitation. ”

At the same time, the length of Kumiankoski doubles from about 50 meters to one hundred meters.

High waters

We have had a long weekend at the summer house, five days of sunshine and joys of spring. Rest for the arm and also to the mind. I can tell you, that I have been outside most of the time. Joy of the new season! I had my son with his family with us there so it was very lively as small boys and big boys enjoyed the barbecue and soccer and walks in the nature. Laugh, screams, fights, all emotions were to be seen and heard.

Here are few shots from this visit. Nature is not at its best at the moment, but the beginning of nature’s bloom to the beauty of spring can be sensed in the singing of the birds, the open waters and the croaks or is the work ribbiting of frogs. The water in the lakes and rivers is very high

of to see the bunnies 🙂
