Street Photography in Helsinki

The November streets look, well what they look like. This is what it looked liked on a November afternoon and and early evening (between 3pm -6pm) I haven’t taken the camera out since then. But I thought I would share some fresh photos today.

Some season lights were already adding light to the bleakness of this time of year. The boy looking at the display window while his parents were in line to get into the store was a nice pop of colors as was the Cartier window display with the reflecting lights from the street.

We had the first snow on Friday last week, so obviously these were taken prior to that. The snow will melt but for few days it will give us a little bit more light.

Views from around the Helsinki railway station, and Aleksanterinkatu.

Archive finds ~ edition 1

From my archive i found these street photography shots and I’ve edited them to block and white. I think it gives them a more timeless, classic look. I also have color edits, o you have an opinion as to which works better in your opinion?

These were taken in Nicè France, hope you enjoy them. I like the children’s joy in them.

Firefighters

I saw these firefighters practice in full gear, running up stairs, climbing ladders, ans carrying the victim those stairs. It looked exhausting in the +35 Celsius heat. And the situation in real situation…

I had it easier I took a photos. I edited them all slightly differently, any thoughts?

I have been following the fires in Australia as two of my cousins have been effected by them very closely. So these are relevant in that sense that you have to be prepared at all time.Keep up the skills and fitness.

Sydney ~2

We were rather tired the first day so we walked a bit, some street shots of Sydney few days before Xmas. Our first day and it was raining.

Walking in Helsinki in Jätkäsaari, around the new Clarion Hotel, you can see beautiful reflections and from the glass structures.   The ship yards on one side, cruise ships being built and on the other side you can see ships that take you to Tallinn.Helsinki by day-01849

Street photography at Kapteeninkatu in Helsinki. The Finnish flag was Half-mast for our former President Mauno Koivisto who had passed away the day before.  I have photos in color and Monochrome, for some reason they appeal to me in street photography. What your opinion about it?

Looking out

I took this photo of a man looking out from a window following the life below, BW or Color? Which one do you like better?

Street Photography

This is not the usual  photos from trips, as  we lived in midst the local and the reality of the local lives was so visible. Poverty could be touched. So mostly my photos from this trip are street photagraphy. Documentation of what we saw …

Sweet little girl

I was taking photo on the street and this girls dad came and asked if I’d take a photo of her daughter. I was ever so happy to take a photo of this sweet girl. I am so into monochrome photos, that I like that one better. How do you see it?
