Simply red – traditionally

Buildings painted in traditional red ochre paint that is popular in the Nordics effectively embody the warmth and character of a community deeply rooted in its cultural heritage and appreciation for nature. This distinguished color, prominently displayed on structures in picturesque villages and tranquil landscapes, not only enhances the visual appeal but also evokes a profound sense of home for the residents. The historical significance of red ochre paint reflects the pride that Nordic individuals take in their craftsmanship and the narratives intertwined with their dwellings.

Apples, Simply red 7

Red apples are like the overachievers of the fruit world, flaunting their bright red jackets and screaming, “Look at me! I’m healthy!” They don’t just catch your eye; they practically do a little dance on the grocery shelf, coaxing you to munch on their juicy, crispy goodness. Legends say that these red beauties are the tempting fruit of choice, luring us in with their sweet charm—just try not to bite into one and imagine it’s forbidden! as A last thought, I for some reason associated red apples with Christmas.

Three shiny red apples against a dark background.

Granny Smith apples, those sassy little green gems, are like the zesty grandma who sneaks you cookies while insisting on a kale salad for health! With their vibrant skin glowing like an emerald on a sunny day, they practically shout, “Stop right there and savor this tangy delight!” Taking a bite is almost like receiving a playful pinch that jolts your taste buds awake; it’s so refreshingly sharp, you might just second-guess if a lemon moonlighted as your snack! I had to add something about my favorite apple 🍏

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #264: primary colors

I’m certainly drawn to color, all colors. So, it delights me that Sofia picked primary colors as her challenge this week.

Flowers in Primary colors, trying to find a blue flower that was not more in the violet, purple shade is was hard. Did not totally nail it here either.

Here are some colorful birds, blue, yellow and red.

Fruits and berries

Doors and windows

Colors #4

RED! The color of passion and energy. Red draws attention like no other color and radiates a strong and powerful energy that motivates us to take action. It is also linked to sexuality and stimulates deep and intimate passion. Red is ubiquitously used to warn and signal caution and danger.

Parrots

“Red is the archetypal color, the first color humans mastered, fabricated, reproduced, and broke down into different shades, first in painting and later in dyeing. This has given it primacy over all other colors through the millennia.” – Michel Pastoureau

RED

A striking, bold, and captivating hue, red is perhaps the most dominant of colors. Often seen while navigating the roads, red lets us know when caution is warranted. Though seeing the color red may give us pause, it also provides tremendous warmth. When this scarlet shade rears its cherry head, we can’t help but feel protected. In essence, the color red serves to safeguard us against harm.

Simply put, the color red can’t be described in a word or two. It embodies so many wonderful qualities, including love, kindness, and familiarity. On the other hand, it can resurrect feelings of despair and melancholy. In between its positive and negative traits lies cultural interpretations, subliminal messaging, and warning indicators.
