I saw this wooden train(1952) in Porvoo, it still regulary takes tourist on a ride it is pulled bya steam locomotive .All details can be seen better by clicking at an image to enlarge them.

Summer holidays for us this year means spending time at our summer-house and making so visits to nearby towns, getting to know and see some the local sights. Tourist visit these places so maybe we should also refresh our knowledge of some of the beautiful places in Finland. This is our forh place so far, few more to go .
Porvoo is Finland’s second oldest town, a beautiful city full of history. The timeless and unique atmosphere in Old Porvoo attracts travellers from all over the world.Six towns were established in Finland during the Middle Ages. Some of them grew to be towns without any official order having been issued. This was the case with Porvoo, which got the town rights after Turku in the 14th century.

Weekend travels – Barösund island
Barösund consists of a few larger islands, Barölandet, Orslandet och Elgsjölandet and hundreds of smaller islands and islets. During the summer months the life in Barösund is intense and hectic, as the inhabitants tenfold. Approximately 180 persons reside permanently in the archipelago community.First we took the car ferry across, then we visited the market area, some docks and forests. Enjoying a beautiful summer Saturday here,
Weekend travels – Fagervik
Situated beautifully by the lake, in the midst of lush vegetation and ancient trees, Fagervik is well
worth a visit, I loved my visit there. Nowhere else in Finland can such a complete 18th century milieu be found. The mansion
with its French garden was closed, the church we peeked from the outside and throught the gates, the cottages and the iron forges all bear witness of generations
of industrious labour and devotion to the land.

These three are off-centered , the powerline on the right in the wheat field, the photo was taken at midnight yesterday as the fog came in. The boys and the chair… and more traditional the peony on the left in the evening light.

Fiskars
Fiskars is about 10 km from Billnäs and it is a very popular with summer visitors. Here are pictures from this lovely town I visit at least once a year.

I have visited several the picturesque villages this summer, this is one of them. There is magic in these in the old houses and buildings. The scenary is beautiful with the old trees and plants grrowing. Often they are located near to a river or a lake. These places are busy during summer season, only to fall asleep for winter, and wake up to a new season in the spring.

Odd – Old stuff in Laura’s shop
Visited a shop yesterday that was so full of stuff, some were just too kitsch, some really quality merchandise, all mixed together in random order, odd shop at best.
