Nesting of the swan
As we walked around the island, we came across this swan nesting her eggs. We made sure we did not go too close as they might leave the nest if you go too near the nest.
The female swan nests alone. The male is guarding the nest or is eating somewhere further away. The female rarely leaves the eggs during this month’s nesting time. So it’s virtually not eating of for four weeks. Even when the female leaves for a small distance to get something from the edible from the bottom of the sea it covers its eggs so they do not cool too much.

PHOTO CHALLENGE Evanescent was a new word to me, as I am not a native English speaker, ev·a·nes·cent [evəˈnes(ə)nt] Soon passing out of sight, memory, or existence; quickly fading or disappearing.
When I was a kid, when taking car trips, we would try to spot cows on the side of the road. Pass the time counting them… Well it is not a sight you see to often now a days, at least were I live. These are from near my summer place, countryside. Even there you do not see cows that often. And seeing them, it does bring memories of day less hectic and fast paced.

16th floor view of Helsinki
Unfortunately the photos have the window reflections on the, but Helsinki is rather beautiful city, mixture of old and new. I took these from the 16th floor at Clarion Hotel in Helsinki-
Street Photography
Walking in Helsinki in Jätkäsaari, around the new Clarion Hotel, you can see beautiful reflections and from the glass structures. The ship yards on one side, cruise ships being built and on the other side you can see ships that take you to Tallinn.
WPC PHOTO CHALLENGE Heritage
WPC PHOTO CHALLENGE theme this week is Heritage. I visited Cyprus few years back, at At the Tombs of the Kings (Pathos) you could feel the history the heritage. The underground tombs, many of which date back to the 4th century BC, are carved out of solid rock, and are thought to have been the burial sites of Paphitic aristocrats and high officials up to the third century AD.

Street photography at Kapteeninkatu in Helsinki. The Finnish flag was Half-mast for our former President Mauno Koivisto who had passed away the day before. I have photos in color and Monochrome, for some reason they appeal to me in street photography. What your opinion about it?
