Lens Artists Challenge #313: Cool Colors

This week, John invites us to immerse ourselves in the captivating realm of “cool” in all its diverse nuances. For my contribution, I’ve opted to explore the serene and tranquil allure of the color blue. By intentionally keeping the accompanying text succinct, I aim to encourage each viewer to discern and derive their own unique impressions and emotions from the evocative imagery. In my perception, the predominant use of blue exudes a sense of serenity and invites a state of relaxation. I’m curious to know if you share in this interpretation and whether it resonates with your own sentiments.

Last week, Sofia guided us through the wonders of adding a sense of scale to our photos. It once again brought attention to the composition of images and how important it is.

This week, it is John’s turn to focus on cool colors. He provides excellent directions and terrific images to illustrate the challenge. Above was my take on it, hope to see yours.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #264: primary colors

I’m certainly drawn to color, all colors. So, it delights me that Sofia picked primary colors as her challenge this week.

Flowers in Primary colors, trying to find a blue flower that was not more in the violet, purple shade is was hard. Did not totally nail it here either.

contrasting colors

52 Frames, Photography, Still life

I am continuing to participate in 52 frames – this week the theme contrasting colors, as its still all snowy here in Finland trying to find contrasting colors in the nature is a real challenge, so I did not take it on.

I had oranges on the table – I have a blue wall in my living room, with light coming in from the side from a big window. I have a matching blue linen dress to place on the sidetable to get my still life props in order, Easy solution from thing found in the house.

As you can see all of them are VERY similar, with slightly different lighting and contrast , as well as the blue looks a bit different in all. This is something I spend too much time at… well that what I do, and then trying to pick a hopefully the best one for the challenge, second guessing my choice all the time.

I was trying to come up with a title, I could not come up with any. I thought I’d make a post, but I have nothing to say. Nothing is happening. Days are short. I work. I watch tv. Sleep. Then I do the same again.

I have been practicing oil ink paintings, most of them are rubbish. I have tried to do warm tones, reds, orange and yellow. Cold tones, they turned out much better. It looks so easy, but to get anything presentable is hard. It is fun, but the room needs to be easily ventilated, but with the cold weather we have been having you just cannot keep the windows open.(-16C / 9F for nearly a week, today it’s only -1,3C /29F) so I’ve had my head full of fumes 🙂

I have not photographed anything worth publishing lately as I have not been doing anything.

I have admired our updated kitchen, I am happy with how it turned out. I more than once I questioned my choices in colors and materials. We only changed the tiles, countertop, sink and lights, the cabinets remained as they where. The kitchen table was sanded and re-waxed, so it is now the same shade as the kitchen countertops

Now I know the topic, it is something that is common in both of paragraph’s above, blue. They are blue.

The color of calmness and clarity. Turquoise stabilizes emotions and increases empathy and compassion. It emits a cool calming peace, gives us a boost of positive mental energy that improves concentration and clarifies our mind, and creates a balance that clears the path to spiritual growth.

Comprised of green, blue, and yellow tones, turquoise is a striking combination of these color wheel beauties. Never one to boast, turquoise is radiant without knowing it. With its humility and shifting charm, there’s much to love about this greenish-blue shade..

Aqua is closer to green than blue. It is refreshing, uplifting, creative and cheerful, while at the same time being strong and independent.

Aquamarine strengthens creativity and inspiration. It soothes and balances the mind and the emotions.

Blue-green (or teal) is an advanced turquoise shade that symbolizes credibility and reliability. It is known to promote engagement and spiritual development.

The color of trust and loyalty. Blue has a calming and relaxing effect on our psyche, that gives us peace and makes us feel confident and secure. It dislikes confrontation and too much attention, but it is an honest, reliable and responsible color and you can always count on its support.

Blue inspires us to live in the present and bid farewell to our stress. By creating an air of serenity, it does just that. On a particularly challenging day, consider looking up at the sky. You’ll find an oasis of calm gazing up at the clouds.

Where calmness is present, so too is the color blue. In addition to its peacefulness, blue also offers direction and empathy. Though these attributes are promising, blue is also fragile and somewhat cowardly. These varying qualities make blue the perfectly balanced shade that so many love, trust, and adore.

Last week I lost my sister to a very brief battle of cancer. My mood has been sad and forlorn. I have not been able consentrate in photos… Yesterday I sat by the sea at Porkkalanniemi and the there was rain approaching us and clear sunshine at the other side…In time this is how I will feel the dark rain filled clouds will clear to a more sunny time.
