It’s half past three in the afternoon and it’s dusk already, so here is some dim bling for this Friday.

A old photo of this cute 🙂 cat to bring smile to your face, hopefully gloom expression does not effect you. This was one not so happy cat in pet store.
Midway through November, no signs of winter in the southern part of Finland. Just now the temperature outside is 7,4 Celsius. The sun is out, the sky is partly cloudy with sunshine. Not bad, not bad at all. The light does wonders as does a good night of sleep to the spirits.

Oak trees in Vols – color
We can all do with a bright and happy smile to brighten our day. An old photo of my oldest grandson. He was such funny kid with deep thoughts. He was about three years old when he had this profound thought – for a three year old. “It is so hard to know, all that you need to know” ” On vaikea tietää, aina mitä kaikkea pitää tietää!”
Yesterday was not a good one, I was uninspired, bored, tired. I did edit the photos for this post, I took on Monday evening from a restaurant we stopped for a bit to eat, but could not get on with posting them.
That is so totally sad, well I guess most of us have days like that or not. I allowed myself to do nothing, I watched TV, news, lifestyle programs, news, soccer. Finnish national football team won France, the world champion. WOW! After that it was time to go to bed!

My garden still produced some colors, this one I turned into B&W for the reason of composition. The cross and balanced berries. I have to admit it is so much better in color, but that was what I thought I’d photograph today

Reflections of reeds
My old photos are this time of my dad, who passed away along time ago in 1982, but he still remains in my memories. The b&w one below is the first photo I took of my dad, and also the first time I took photos in the early seventies..
Reflections are beautiful, I tried it as B&W and I have to admit, it’s not as bad as I thought it could be, because the different shades of gray and movement that is in the photo.

Reflections of reeds
My old photo compare is from San Francisco, last year I think Cityscape turns well in to B&W images
Kivenlahti seaside was grey, as I was taking a walk there searching for gray, which is a topic of a month in a Photography FB group I am in. I saw this boat being left in to the reeds. I thought that might make a great B&W shot. So here it is.

As many of you asked if I was happy with the outcome to the hair salon, well this is the outcome
This is always a day of Big decisions, at least for the ladies. I should not say all ladies, but to many women I know. What to do to your hair when at the hair salon. What color, what cut…
I have had red(carrot) hair nearly two years, but now everyone is turning red, I have to try something new a darker shade. A long bob has been my look for years. Today is time for change. This isn’t my best look, but it was something I did to survive this month of grayness.
Shells found on one of out trips to warm and sandy beaches. The original photo was taken 2014 so few years back, now I edited it and then converted it to B&W
I had some errands to run in Helsinki and took my camera with me, so I could take night time. Photos of cities and buildings are something that look good as black and white. In this picture you can see in the front the the old market hall – it is still in use. In the back is the city hall and background the Helsinki Cathedral

Kirkkonummi’s medieval stone church is located in the center of Kirkkonummi. The exact time of construction is not known, but the work apparently began in the 15th century. A wooden church, was previously located on the site. Kirkkonummi Church is named after St. Michael the Archangel Michael.
Originally, Kirkkonummi Church was very small. In addition to stone, brick was used as the material. In the 18th century, the church began to expand, and in the mid-19th century it was transformed into its present form as a cruciform church. The church bell tower was built in 1824.

I chose as an older photograph my take Träskända Manor so I would be on a same kind of topic. I love old buildings, I think they have so much more character.
It is here the dreariest moth of the year for me here in Northern hemisphere. The whole month is a constant loss of light. Gray. Depressing. I am taking on a theme for this month. Monochrome. Black and White photos all month. I am taking on a challenge of editing one old photos to my best ability to Black and White, plus one new photo a day, hey, you guessed it in Black and White. Do you you want to join me with this theme? If you wish to participate add your link here to LEPIS

Happy smile – portrait of a graduate
An old chest of drawers that is in my husbands office, we have several old side boards or bureaus or what ever you call them in our home. My husband lovers to restore them and we have more of them that we have places for them. It is his hobby. My hobby is art, paintings, sculpture and photography, for some reason they are also all around our house. I have placed my sculptures on the one that is in his office ,that I have not found proper places elsewhere, my four refugees and a woman with a book. Our wedding photo is there and so is my oldest sons wedding photo too, side by side. Continuance.
I was too lazy to go out into the grayness, this being the reason for this photo.

The dreaded photographer’s block. I,ve had it. I have it now, sort of, As one is mostly at home.
You sit on your couch, you look at your beautiful gear, and you just don’t feel it. You can’t think of anything worth shooting. Nothing takes you.
It’s frustrating as hell. An empty feeling.
At this i take a look at archives and edit old photos that I have discarded previously, with my new found editing skills I am able to breathe new life to them. Maybe this will get me going.
Mostly I have taken photos of my grandchildren, when they let me.
I like this shot of the Naples Pier I took few years ago. The sun was low and it came shining under the pier. I transformed it to blank and white image. I think i works both ways.
This first photo is an unedited straight from my mobile that i converted to black and white image. I took it at a Pier in Kaivopuisto in Helsinki on a very misty day.
Details of the harnesses and carriages were that dates from the 1880’s.
I did a set in color and in black and white, as I’ve said before, the atmosphere is totally different in them, in my humble opinion. Do you agree or disagree?
I love taking black and white photos of dandelion seeds, I think they look so much better this way than in color. This years take on the familiar spring , early summer topic.
I spent some time editing tulip images, there are only slight differences to this interpretations. The obvious one being some are black and white…other than that its about shades and light. Do you have a favorite
I have always for some reason liked these photos, I think that i have captures a feeling, emotion in these shots. I also have a liking for BW photos so I resided to edit them as such. There is a slight change of tone in these as the first edit s slightly warmer, maybe more afternoon feel to it?
Sitting on the the Negombo beach I watched wind surfers do their magic. Looking at the photos again I thought they would look good also with a B&W edit. What do you think?
the CB&W topic is outdoor-ways-to-move-up-or-down -my take on it is mainly stairs. Here is my input for this week . These are new edits from my visit to France.
What do you think of these images. I have not really done lots of landscapes in black and white. Cities, portraits, still life, in those I have thought it works beautifully. Now I have tried, I am rather happy how they turned out. I would not be sharing them if I wasn’t 🙂 .
