My desk was filled with work stuff, calendar, mobile, pen and flash drive as I was going through my papers.
I also found a quote from John Lennon, that I find to be true , between my calendar. Somebody has to remind me…

1. The first day of the year
This years first day, in Finlnad the weather was so awful , raining all day, grey – nothing to do or see – So I took a photo out of “office/ atelier” window.
You can see the outdoor lights and reflection from the lights inside and me taking a photo.
I tried to do these still in the spirit of the season. I have not altered the tones in the photos…trying to be true to the challenge and find the real colors in the photos!

This was one smelly exploration to a fish market in Negombo, Sri Lanka.
The Fish market was so far from the sterile shops we have here in Finland. This place had life, smells and tons of fresh fish.

Inspirational light
This Silence chapel at Kamppi has inspired these pictures..
Present are the light coming indirectly from above and the warm feel of the materials. The inner walls of the chapel area are lined with common alder planks cut to shape. The simple furnishing of the hall are made of massive ash tree. The silver cross at the altar was sculpted by artist blacksmith

Silence chapel of Kamppi
Between two of the city’s main shopping malls, and the iconic 1930’s Lasipalatsi building, this circular wooden structure is a surprisingly bold architectural statement in one of the busiest parts of Helsinki. Designed by the studio K25 (consisting of three young architects) the awarded building is a site for meditation, its plain minimalist form inviting quiet reflection.
Made out of Finnish timber, the design shows great sensibility for the use of local materials. Without side windows light falls from above through an oval gap around the ceiling, creating a sense of calmness. The chapel demonstrates how contemporary architecture at its best can fascinate and inspire. It is one of the true centerpieces of the WDC 2012 program. (CNN)

I do not like winter,but it is beautiful now that the snow has arrived to brighten the few hours of light we have here in the north, this scenery is peaceful in spite the fact that it’s freezing.
